I Think Most People Don’t Believe Me…

I think most people don’t believe me when I tell them that it isn’t really that hard to win radio contests and sweepstakes.  Granted, the big nationwide sweepstakes with hundreds of thousands of entrants are very tough to win.  Local contests on the other hand, like radio contests, are not that hard to win.

Thursday I won $1,000 on the radio! A local station has been giving away $1,000 every day if you called in when they played a certain song.  I had been trying all week long to win and up until this point I hadn’t won yet. Thursday afternoon I rushed home from work and turned on the radio and got ready to dial.  I needed to be caller 9 and I ended up being callers 4 and 9! Now I’m $1,000 richer for putting in about 5 minutes of work a day for 4 days in a row!

I wasn’t done for the week though…

Saturday I went to a promotion being put on by a local television station.  They were raffling away a few great prizes to anyone who showed up and filled out a form.  For this contest you had to be present to win, which actually increases your odds of winning since people don’t usually stick around.  Luck was definitely on my side this week and I ended up winning a trip to New York with airfare and hotel accommodations!

People sometimes get mad at me for winning so much.  They think that I am just a lucky person, or that I am cheating.  The truth is that the only advantage I have is that I try. Most people assume that no one ever wins these contests and don’t even bother trying.  The truth is that you will always lose 100% of the contests that you don’t enter. So why not just put forth a little effort and hope you get lucky?
